I’m so glad my graphics card, which has a palette of millions of colours, has sufficient power to render all this blackness.

Maybe the Samsung Monitor with Magic Bright ability can help in this kind of situation. I think there is a gamma adjustment within the game as well.
I doubt my monitor is at fault since I’ve not experienced this problem aside from Guild Wars and even then it’s only in certain areas.
The only time I had this problem in Prophecies was in the Mursaat fortress in Abaddon’s Mouth. Factions, on the other hand, has a lot of areas that are just goddamned black.
I have been boosting the in-game gamma settings to compensate but that’s just treating the symptom. I strongly feel ArenaNet needs to help its art director get over his depression.
